I am a reading intervention teacher. During my teaching period, students (2nd & 3rd grade)were expected to utilize their iPad for a minimum of 20 minutes for “data” purposes. I always reset the time to 10 minutes. Guided reading with books and writing, as well as cursive, were skills I focused on.
It's crazy, isn't it! I know a school where the principle sends out emails to teachers in the building if their students aren't on the math program long enough because of the "data". They get in trouble if she thinks they need to be on longer! So glad there are teachers like you trying to get around the system! Thank you!
