In 2017, nine year-old Avery Jackson became the poster child for “trans kids” after being featured on the cover of National Geographic.
Avery is now seventeen.
We wanted to check in on Avery and his affirming family.
We wanted to see if kids “KNOW WHO THEY ARE.”

Can you please either post screen shots of the Twitter thread or include the entirety of the text in this post? The problem is that under The new X format, you can't read threads unless you have an account. If we click on the link you provide, we are only able to see that first tweet in the thread. If we go to Restore Childhood's main page on your browser, you can see that first tweet because it's pinned, but again you can't see the rest of the thread and the top posts on the page are old ones from 2022 because Musk deliberately makes it very hard for people to see content unless they have an account. I don't want a Twitter account. If you want people to have access to this post to show how identities do change, please put it in a format so that people outside of Twitter's bubble can read it and share it. Also, for what it's worth, when I tried googling "restore childhood Avery Jackson," something a lot of people might try to be able to find the rest of the content, I quickly came to reposts of your first post saying that Avery still identifies as trans (non-binary) and quit activism because of transphobia. Please make the material you want to share with people accessible to people without Twitter accounts
I left Twitter long ago, and while I'm curious about this story, I'm not curious to open another account.
