The Pandemic May Be "Over," But Our Work is Just Beginning

‘Last week was a busy week for Restore Childhood.

On Thursday 9/15, I spoke at the “Restore Normal” rally in NYC to call for an end of COVID-19 vaccine mandates for children to participate in after-school activities and for parents to enter school buildings. We also heard from Coach Ron Naclerio, AboutU co-founder George Lanese, #KeepNYCSchoolsOpen founder Daniela Jampel, former congressional candidate and open schools advocate extraordinare Maud Maron, former public school teacher and member of Educators for Freedom Moe Oliver and the amazing rally organizer, public school mom Yasmina Palumbo. Watch the speeches here- so many wonderful people advocating to restore our kids- what could be better than that? It’s enough to give you hope for the future.

Just yesterday, there was a report that the NYC mandate for extracurriculars may be ending shortly, though unvaccinated parents will still be unable to enter their children’s schools and public sector workers will still be subject to the vaccine mandates.

Not good enough, Mr. Mayor!

On Friday 9/16 I joined a group of NY open schools parents and coaches to meet Alison Esposito, candidate for New York State Lieutenant Governor to discuss the importance of removing all mandates and restrictions for families and children. Alison was warm and engaging, a veteran NYPD officer, who said she would protect the most vulnerable- especially children.

Then, on Saturday 9/17, Stephanie and I went to Washington D.C. to interview Jenin Younes,  litigation counsel for New Civil Liberties Alliance for our documentary film project about the impact of COVID restrictions on America’s children.  Building on her eight years as a NYC public defender in who fought to ensure the most vulnerable received fair legal representation, Jenin is now — together with Attorney Generals of Missouri and Louisiana — suing the Biden administration for its involvement in social media censorship of the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration Jay Bhattacharaya, Martin Kulldorff and several others.
