Dr. Nikki's Weekly Wrap-up
Lockdown fallout on college campuses, mRNA vaccines boost cancer deaths in Japan, teacher fired for not giving students unearned grades, and find out who'll be affected by Title IX changes.
TGIF & welcome to Dr. Nikki’s Weekly Wrap-Up, where I highlight stories related to parenting and protecting childhood.
The fallout of COVID-19 lockdowns
Members of the Class of COVID-19 are now college seniors. Many of the students staging sit-ins and lawn camping over the war in the Middle East are openly expressing Marxist sentiments, even shouting “Death to America.” The damage from lockdowns keeps spreading like the fallout from a nuclear bomb.
Do mRNA vaccines accelerate cancer deaths?
A Japanese study shows a rise in age-adjusted excess mortality (more people dying than usual) due to all types of cancer after each dose of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. This was adjusted for the fact that deaths from cancer typically increase with age. Japan’s adjusted excess mortality rates were low or negative during 2020, when infection rates were high. U.S. scientists and public health officials seem to be incurious.
Georgia teacher was fired for giving students the grades they earned
A teacher in Henry County, Georgia, was instructed to give students a minimum score of 60% even if they completed no assignments. She was fired for giving students the grades they deserved. She fought back and now plans to run for a seat on the school board.
Title IX changes do not affect women’s sports yet
There is a lot of uproar about the Title IX changes made by the Biden/Harris Department of Education. The DOE’s new rules changed Trump-era rules and now allow “gender identity” to be treated as “sex” in matters of discrimination. There is no final ruling on allowing biological boys to compete with biological girls in sports.
